In a time of change and uncertainty, one thing is clear – that the world of work and workplace learning has shifted dramatically since the onset of Covid-19. But what can we learn from the crisis to help L&D navigate the year ahead?
Despite living, working and learning in unpredictable times, we’ve seen and experienced an acceleration of some clear themes in the learning and technology space. Each driven and fuelled by the need to deliver learning remotely via digital channels.
This is not new, but the context is: Covid-19 has brought long-existing themes to the fore. Understandably, there has been a hastening of the move to digital learning during the lockdown which is likely to be a trend that is here to stay.
This short video produced by Chief Learning Officer describes what the L&D landscape currently looks like, based on research gathered by BMG Research and Advisory Services as part of the CLO biannual Industry Survey. It’s well worth a watch and shares invaluable insight into some increasingly visible trends over the year ahead:
As you can see the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of investment in Learning Technologies to support people and their skills development, as many businesses have struggled to adapt to these rapidly changing circumstances. And the pandemic isn’t the only crisis that businesses are facing.
As we’ve reported in previous years, L&D professionals continue to feel under increasing pressure to provide learning with higher production values, at higher speed, with smaller budgets and fewer resources. For us, we see 2021 being the next turning point for digital learning.
With the advance of technology and design thinking there are many ways in which you can streamline your design and development strategy to deliver great learning experiences. The next generation of content authoring tools, media development approaches, and cloud-based learning platforms are opening up exciting opportunities for L&D teams. Digital learning and next generation platforms can now:
- Enhance the learning experience
- Make learning more accessible
- Deliver personalised and tailored learning journeys
- Enable remote working
- Enable and automate advanced learning workflows
- Enable learners to curate their own learning playlists
Some of our latest projects have delivered significant value at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions. Seeing is believing and we are really looking forward to demonstrating how smart thinking and innovative design can deliver award winning solutions quickly and at low cost.
