Healthcare workers need to be prepared for emergencies that occur internally or that have occurred externally they are now responding to within the facility.  Patients are largely unfamiliar with the location; they may be disoriented and need urgent support. These events can be emotionally taxing for all concerned, causing anxiety and even panic. Empower your workers, preparing them to best respond and minimise the occurrence of further emergency breakouts.

The standardised colour codes that are used across healthcare settings were devised to help workers discreetly communicate with one another and know immediately what specific emergency has arisen within the building.

Within the workplace digital learning calendar February is a popular time for learning leaders to ensure all workers are current with knowledge and readiness for when emergency situations occur.

We are delighted to announce the arrival of Kineo’s new course; Healthcare Emergency Preparedness that has been built to support healthcare workers in responding to and recovering from the impacts of emergencies.

How to be prepared and how to respond to healthcare emergencies

Healthcare Emergency Preparedness is a short, behaviourally-focused course, designed to ensure that when there’s an emergency, healthcare workers are prepared to respond quickly and appropriately.

The Healthcare Emergency Preparedness course is interactive, using video and case studies to provide practical, relatable examples. Throughout the course, the visual aesthetic reinforces the colour codes. Non-mandatory practice activities provide learners with a consequence-free environment to improve their ability to identify and respond to emergency codes.

Upon completion, learners can expect to have a greater understanding of:

  • colour codes and use for specific emergencies,
  • when to initiate an emergency code, and
  • how to behave in specific emergency situations.
