Senior Web Developers (Permanent - Brighton, UK)

We are looking for experienced, autonomous programmers who are fluent and highly skilled in at least one language or platform in all tiers of Open Source web application development: data persistence (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL), back-end (e.g. PHP, Python, Java), front-end (JavaScript, HTML, CSS).

You’ll probably have a background in traditional software engineering (either academic or commercial experience) and must be comfortable applying fundamental object-oriented design principles to achieve robust software models. You will preferably have an understanding of SOLID design principles and definitely have a keen appreciation for clean, decoupled, testable code. While our senior developers are adept OO programmers, their appreciation for minimal code means they understand that quite often, a humble function is all that’s needed.

You’ll take the technical lead on projects and be able to break down functional specifications aimed at business people into time-estimated development task lists aimed at programmers. We are looking for developers who will be comfortable mentoring junior colleagues and possibly have prior experience of this.

The right candidates will be keen to share their knowledge and have the drive and enthusiasm to push forward best practices. You’ll identify emerging web development trends, frameworks and technologies that are likely to last and have the wisdom to differentiate these from others which end up being a flash in the pan or a passing fad.
